🔄 Reverse DNS Lookup
Convert an IP address to its hostname by looking up its PTR record.
What is Reverse DNS?
Reverse DNS (rDNS) maps an IP address to a hostname, the opposite of a standard DNS lookup. It uses PTR records and is commonly used for:
- Email server verification (many mail servers check rDNS)
- Network troubleshooting
- Security logging and auditing
- Identifying the owner of an IP address
